A mandatory (blue) sign requiring the earth terminal to be bonded to ground before the equipment is energised. The solid blue circle with a white symbol is the ISO 7010 mandatory shape — an instruction to act, not a hazard warning — and M005 shows the standard earth symbol: a conductor dropping to three tapering bars.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Placed on mobile generators and temporary distribution boards on construction sites, in electrical rooms and substations, on fuel tankers and transfer pumps where static bonding is required, and on welding sets and test equipment in Gulf workshops and laboratories, where dust and humidity raise the risk of leakage currents.
Regulation notes
Civil Defense and occupational safety authorities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE expect earthing integrity to be evidenced and mandatory signage to be legible on electrical equipment as a condition of operating licences and electrical permits to work. In the UAE, practice under the OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 is for Arabic to sit above English on safety signs.
- Fix it on the distribution board door or the generator frame at eye level (1.4–1.6 m), facing the technician standing at the bonding point.
- A5 or A4 is enough on the equipment itself; use A3 on electrical room doors and substation fencing.
- Print on adhesive vinyl or heat- and dust-resistant PVC inside generator rooms — plain paper curls and drops within weeks in the Gulf climate.
