The solid blue circle with a white symbol is the ISO 7010 mandatory shape — an instruction to act, not a hazard warning — and M006 shows a plug being drawn from a wall socket: switching off alone is not enough.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Placed on commercial kitchen equipment such as fryers, mixers and meat slicers, on laboratory pumps and instruments, on portable power tools in workshops, on air-conditioning units and industrial fans, and on washing and pressing machines in hotel and laundry back-of-house before covers are opened or jams are cleared.
Regulation notes
Civil Defense and occupational safety authorities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE expect clear isolation procedures before maintenance work and mandatory signage fixed to equipment as a condition of operating licences and permits to work. In the UAE, practice under the OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 is for Arabic to sit above English on safety signs.
- Fix it on the service cover or beside the equipment socket at eye level (1.4–1.6 m), where the technician looks before undoing the first screw.
- A5 or A4 on the equipment itself; A3 on plant room and maintenance workshop doors.
- Tie it to your lock-out/tag-out routine — hang the tag and padlock next to the sign so the instruction becomes a physical step rather than words.
