low temperature sign
A warning (yellow) sign alerting people to very low temperatures or frozen surfaces that can cause cold burns or make skin stick to metal. The yellow triangle with a black border is the ISO 7010 warning shape; the pictogram is a snowflake.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Fixed to cold-room and freezer doors in supermarkets, restaurants and central kitchens, blast-freezer rooms in food factories, on cryogenic tanks and lines carrying liquid nitrogen or CO2, in chiller and plant rooms, and in refrigerated pharmaceutical stores.
Regulation notes
Municipalities and occupational-safety authorities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE expect workers to be warned about extreme cold and provided with protective clothing and an inside release mechanism when cold rooms in food premises are inspected. In the UAE, the OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to sit above English on safety signs.
- Fix it to the outside of the cold-room door at eye level (1.5–1.7 m) and repeat it at the entrance to the cold-room corridor.
- A4 suits cold-room doors in restaurants and shops; use A3 for large freezer warehouses.
- Laminate it or print on synthetic stock — condensation on chilled doors breaks down plain paper very quickly.
