slippery surface sign
A warning (yellow) sign alerting people that the floor is slippery from water, oil or cleaning chemicals and that a slip is possible even at walking pace. The yellow triangle with a black border is the ISO 7010 warning shape; the pictogram shows a person slipping backwards over a wavy floor line.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Used in commercial and hotel kitchens, laundries and vehicle wash bays, mall entrances during cleaning or on rainy days, restrooms and ablution areas, food factories and abattoirs, and around swimming pools. It is also used as a portable floor-stand sign while cleaning is in progress.
Regulation notes
Municipalities and occupational-safety authorities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE expect wet floors in premises open to the public to be clearly signed, and a missing warning during cleaning is commonly recorded during inspection visits. In the UAE, the OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to sit above English on safety signs.
- For permanent mounting put it on the wall at eye level (1.5–1.7 m); for temporary work use a floor stand in the middle of the wet area.
- A4 is enough for restrooms and narrow corridors; use A3 for mall entrances and kitchen halls.
- Remove the portable sign as soon as the floor is dry — leaving it out permanently trains staff and visitors to ignore it.
