trip hazard sign
A warning (yellow) sign alerting people to an obstacle or change of floor level that could cause a trip and fall. The yellow triangle with a black border is the ISO 7010 warning shape; the pictogram shows a person stumbling over an obstruction on the ground.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Used in warehouse aisles crossed by rails or thresholds, in commercial kitchens around floor drains, on construction sites where cables and hoses run across walkways, in plant rooms with exposed pipe runs, and in exhibition and event halls during build-up.
Regulation notes
Occupational-safety authorities and municipalities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE expect walkways to be kept clear and people warned about floor obstructions; unsecured routes are routinely recorded as findings in site and facility inspection reports. In the UAE, the OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to sit above English on safety signs.
- Mount it well before the obstruction, on the wall at eye level (1.5–1.7 m) or on a floor stand at the entrance to the walkway.
- A4 suits internal corridors and offices; use A3 for warehouse halls and construction sites.
- The sign is a temporary control: use it with yellow-and-black hazard tape on the obstruction until it is removed or bridged with a cable ramp.
