What does this sign mean?
A reminder to close the tap after wudu. The ablution room is the biggest water draw in a masjid, and one tap left running between two prayers costs water and money for nothing.
Where does it go and when is it required?
Above each basin in the wudu room, on the mirror or the wall at eye level directly in front of the person washing. A single sign at the door is not enough — it is read before the tap is reached, not at it.
- A5 is enough above a single basin; use A4 on the wall above a row of them.
- Print on water-resistant stock or sleeve it — plain paper above a basin is ruined within weeks.
- The wording is a reminder, not a telling-off: a polite note is read and followed more often than a warning notice in a place of worship.
