dua for entering the masjid sign
The du‘a said when stepping into the masjid with the right foot first: 'O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy', asking Allah to open the doors of His mercy as one enters His house to worship Him. The sign shows the Arabic with full vowel marks and the English translation, and its citation (Sahih Muslim 713) is printed on the sign itself and on its page.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Mounted inside the arch of the main entrance or on the wall beside the door, inside, at eye height, so people read it as they step into the masjid; repeat it at the women’s entrance and the side doors. It suits mosques and prayer rooms in community centres, schools and airports, and quietly reminds children and new Muslims of the sunnah without anyone having to ask.
- Mount at 1.6–1.8 m on the right of the person entering, the side they turn to as they lead with the right foot.
- A4 is enough for ordinary doors; use A3 for wide entrances with tall arches.
- Do not alter the wording or vowel marks; if you add a third language keep the Arabic largest and on top, with the citation printed at the bottom so readers can trust the text.
