dua for leaving the masjid sign
The du‘a said when leaving the masjid with the left foot first: 'O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty', asking Allah for His bounty and provision as one goes back out to the world and its work, having asked for His mercy on the way in. The sign shows the vowelled Arabic with the English translation, and its citation (Sahih Muslim 713) is printed on the sign and on its page.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Mounted on the inside of the exit door or on the wall that faces worshippers as they leave, so it reads in the direction of leaving rather than entering, and repeated by the shoe racks where everyone pauses. It is usually paired with the Entering the Masjid du‘a in the same design, one on each face of the entrance.
- Mount at 1.6–1.8 m on the left of the person leaving, above the shoe racks or right beside the exit door.
- A4 is enough at doors and shoe racks; use A3 for wide main entrances.
- Keep the Arabic largest and on top with the citation printed at the bottom, and do not add words that are not in the narration.
Du‘a text and source
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ
O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty.
