What does this sign mean?
A sign for the men’s toilets, kept clear of the women’s and of the wudu area. All three are easily confused where they share a corridor, so the pictogram pairs the figure with a toilet rather than leaving a bare silhouette that reads as a prayer hall.
Where does it go and when is it required?
Above the men’s restroom door and along the corridor from the prayer hall and the courtyard. It matters most in large jami masajid and highway mosques where travellers stop, and in complexes where the toilets are shared with the musalla.
- Mount at 1.8–2.0 m above the door, with an arrowed copy at the head of the corridor.
- A4 is enough on the door; use A3 for signs read from the courtyard or the car park.
- Do not use it in place of the wudu-area sign — someone looking for the ablution room and someone looking for the toilet need two different signs on two different doors.
