A prohibition sign marking the line where shoes come off, and reminding worshippers to put them on the racks rather than leaving them on the steps or in the doorway. It goes right at the edge of the carpet so people see it before stepping onto the prayer area.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Mounted at every entrance to the prayer hall and wherever carpet begins in corridors and covered courtyards, next to the shoe racks, and at the entrance to the women’s hall and Quran classrooms. It keeps the carpet clean and stops piles of shoes from blocking walkways and emergency exits at busy times.
- Mount at 1.4–1.6 m at the carpet edge, or add a floor sticker on the line if the entrance is wide.
- A4 suits single doors; use A3 for wide main entrances and courtyards.
- In masajid that welcome visitors and new Muslims, make the English line prominent and add an arrow to the shoe racks so nobody is embarrassed.
