women's prayer hall sign
A direction sign marking the entrance and route to the women’s prayer hall, so women can reach it directly without walking through the men’s hall or asking at the door. It pairs with the matching Men’s Prayer Hall sign so the mosque’s wayfinding speaks one visual language.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Mounted above the women’s hall door, at the courtyard and car-park entrance with an arrow, and on the stairs or lift when the hall is upstairs. Where the women’s entrance is on a side street it becomes essential on Fridays and during Taraweeh, when many visitors come from outside the neighbourhood.
- Mount at 1.8–2.0 m above the door; directional copies in the courtyard go at 2.0–2.2 m.
- A3 at the courtyard and car-park entrance, A4 above the door itself.
- In masajid in the West, add the opening hours or a note such as 'Entrance via north side' in English under the sign; many women arrive for the first time.
