cash only sign
A sign that tells customers, before they order, that the shop does not take bank cards or electronic payment, so they bring cash or use the nearest ATM instead of being embarrassed at the till.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Placed at the entrance and on the cashier counter in small groceries, market stalls, souq kiosks, mobile coffee carts and shops whose card terminal is temporarily down. Since Saudi Arabia and the UAE now expect electronic payment to be available in most retail sectors, check the rules for your activity before relying on cash alone, and use this sign as a temporary notice when the terminal fails.
- Stick it to the door glass at eye level (1.4–1.6 m) and repeat a smaller copy next to the till.
- A5 is enough on the counter; use A4 on the door and window.
- Keep Arabic above English, and point to the nearest ATM in the business-name band if there is one close by.
