out of order sign
A sign that tells customers this machine or facility is temporarily out of service, so they do not try to use it or keep asking staff. The formal Arabic wording is understood across the Arab world and replaces the handwritten 'broken' note taped to the door.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Stuck on self-checkout kiosks, coffee machines, ATMs, lifts, restroom doors and broken fridges in shops, cafés, restaurants and petrol stations. Put it up as soon as the fault appears and take it down as soon as it is fixed, so customers keep trusting the sign.
- Stick it on the machine itself or on the door at eye level (1.4–1.6 m) with removable tape that leaves no residue.
- A5 is enough for machines and internal doors; use A4 for lifts and mall restrooms.
- Keep Arabic above English, and use the business-name band for the expected repair time or the nearest alternative.
