CCTV in operation sign
A warning (yellow) sign informing people entering that the site is covered by CCTV cameras that are operating and recording. The yellow triangle with a black border is the ISO 7010 warning shape; the pictogram is a wall-mounted CCTV camera.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Fixed at the entrances of shops, pharmacies and petrol stations, in mall corridors and back-of-house areas, in warehouses and storage yards, and at car park entrances, reception areas and ATM lobbies. It belongs at the point of entry, not only inside the space.
Regulation notes
Security camera regulations in Saudi Arabia and the UAE require people to be informed that a place is under surveillance by means of a visible notice at the entrance, and this is reviewed alongside shop licensing and data-protection requirements. In the UAE, the OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to sit above English on safety signs.
- Mount it at the entrance at eye level (1.5–1.7 m) so visitors see it before they enter the camera's field of view.
- A4 suits shop and office doors; use A3 for car park entrances, warehouses and yard gates.
- Add the organisation name and a contact detail in the bottom band — it makes the notice clearer and gives visitors a way to ask about recordings.
