electrical hazard sign
A warning (yellow) sign alerting people to a risk of electric shock behind this door or inside this panel. The yellow triangle with a black border is the ISO 7010 warning shape; the pictogram is a lightning-bolt arrow.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Required on the doors of electrical, generator and transformer rooms, on main and sub distribution boards in shops, residential buildings and factories, and on the covers of any equipment carrying a dangerous voltage. Civil Defense and safety inspectors look for it during periodic inspections and before an operating licence is issued.
Regulation notes
Civil Defense inspectors in Saudi Arabia and the UAE check for warning signs on electrical rooms and distribution boards when an operating licence is issued or renewed, and a missing sign is a common reason for a delayed licence. In the UAE, OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to sit above English on safety signs.
- Fix it to the door or panel cover itself at eye level (1.5–1.7 m), not on the wall next to it.
- A4 is enough for indoor distribution boards; use A3 on electrical and generator room doors.
- Never swap the yellow for another colour; yellow with black is the only approved warning combination, and glossy or reflective stock helps in dim plant rooms.
