corrosive substance sign
A warning (yellow) sign alerting people to acids, alkalis and other corrosive substances that damage skin and eyes and eat into metal if they leak. The yellow triangle with a black border is the ISO 7010 warning shape; the pictogram shows liquid dripping from a tube onto a surface that is being eaten away.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Fixed to acid and alkali store doors, battery-charging rooms in warehouses and equipment yards, plating and pickling lines in factories, water-treatment plants, and stores of concentrated cleaning chemicals in laundries, hotels and laboratories. It belongs in the same area as the emergency shower and eyewash.
Regulation notes
Civil Defense and occupational-safety authorities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE expect corrosive storage and handling areas to carry warning signage with emergency washing facilities available when industrial premises are inspected. In the UAE, the OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to sit above English on safety signs.
- Fix it to the room door or the bund/containment area at eye level (1.5–1.7 m), and on the acid cabinet face.
- A4 suits cabinets and small battery rooms; use A3 for store doors and production lines.
- Print on chemical-resistant stock or laminate it — plain paper degrades quickly in acid-vapour atmospheres.
