defibrillator sign
A safe-condition (green) sign marking an automated external defibrillator (AED) for use in sudden cardiac arrest. Green is the ISO 7010 safe-condition colour; the pictogram shows a heart pierced by an electrical bolt.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Mounted above the AED cabinet in malls, airports, hotels, gyms, large offices and factories, and anywhere large numbers of people gather. Site it on an open, obvious route so anyone can reach the unit within a couple of minutes.
Regulation notes
Occupational-safety rules in Saudi Arabia and the UAE encourage defibrillators in high-occupancy premises, and their placement and signage are reviewed as part of the emergency response plan at licensing or inspection. In the UAE, OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to appear above English on safety signs.
- Mount at 1.8–2.0 m above the AED cabinet so it reads from the far end of the hall.
- A4 suits corridors and offices; use A3 in airports, malls and sports halls.
- Fix it directly above the cabinet, and add directional signs along the route if the unit is out of line of sight.
