emergency telephone sign
A safe-condition (green) sign marking the telephone kept for calling an ambulance, Civil Defense or the control room when an incident happens. The white handset on green is the ISO 7010 E004 symbol; green here means a means of rescue, not a hazard.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Mounted at the emergency telephone in factory and warehouse corridors, control rooms and underground car parks, and at call points on construction sites and internal road networks of industrial facilities.
Regulation notes
Civil Defense and occupational-safety rules in Saudi Arabia and the UAE require a clearly marked means of calling for help in facilities and workplaces, with emergency numbers posted where they can be seen. In the UAE, OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to appear above English on safety signs.
- Mount directly above the telephone at 1.8–2.2 m so it is visible from the end of the corridor.
- A4 suits corridors and offices; use A3 in factory halls and underground car parks.
- Post the emergency numbers — Civil Defense, ambulance and the internal control room — on a card beside the phone and keep them up to date.
