emergency shower sign
A safe-condition (green) sign marking the emergency shower used to rinse the whole body immediately after contact with a corrosive chemical or when clothing catches fire. The white symbol on green shows a person standing under a shower head with water flowing; it is an informative sign, not a warning.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Mounted above the emergency shower in laboratories, maintenance workshops, water-treatment plants and acid and corrosive stores, and in chemical filling areas in factories. Also placed along the route to the shower when it is out of direct sight.
Regulation notes
Civil Defense and occupational-safety rules in Saudi Arabia and the UAE require a signed, easily reached emergency shower and eyewash wherever chemicals are handled, and this is checked during inspection visits. In the UAE, OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to appear above English on safety signs.
- Mount directly above the shower at 2–2.5 m so it can be seen from anywhere in the lab or workshop.
- A4 suits laboratory interiors; use A3 in factory halls and open areas.
- Keep the route to the shower clear of obstructions, and flow-test the unit weekly with a written record.
