explosive material sign
A warning (yellow) sign alerting people that explosive materials or pressurised charges are present, and that a spark or impact could cause an explosion. The yellow triangle with a black border is the ISO 7010 warning shape; the pictogram shows a bursting charge throwing off fragments.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Fixed to the doors of explosives, blasting-agent and fireworks stores, on rooms holding compressed cylinders or solvents in factories and warehouses, and at the boundary of blasting zones in quarries and major construction projects. Civil Defense and occupational-safety inspectors look for it when stores are surveyed before an operating licence is issued or renewed.
Regulation notes
Civil Defense in Saudi Arabia and the UAE expects clear warning signage on stores holding explosive materials as part of the safety requirements tied to an operating licence, and a missing sign is a common reason for a delayed approval. In the UAE, the OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to sit above English on safety signs.
- Fix it to the store door itself at eye level (1.5–1.7 m) and repeat it on every entrance leading into the storage area.
- A4 is enough for internal doors; use A3 on external entrances and storage-yard gates.
- Print the facility name and an emergency phone number in the bottom band so the fire crew knows who to call before entering.
