fire hose reel sign
A fire-equipment (red) sign marking where a fire hose reel is kept, the first line of attack on fires that need a continuous water supply. The red square is the ISO 7010 shape for fire-fighting equipment; the pictogram shows a drum with coiled hose and a nozzle.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Mounted at the hose-reel cabinet itself in the corridors of commercial buildings, warehouses, hotels, factories and enclosed car parks. Civil Defense requires the reel to be visible, signed and never obstructed; where a corridor is long, fit the sign flag-style perpendicular to the wall so it reads from both directions.
Regulation notes
A fire hose reel sign forms part of the Civil Defense and occupational-safety requirements for licensing premises in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and inspectors check that every reel is signed before a licence is issued or renewed. In the UAE, OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to appear above English on safety signs.
- Mount at 1.8–2.0 m directly above the cabinet so it stays visible over shelving and people's heads.
- A4 suits internal corridors; use A3 in warehouses, car parks and large halls.
- Fix it over the cabinet itself, not on a neighbouring wall, this sign pinpoints a location and is not a general direction arrow.

Choose the size from the maximum distance the sign must be read from (ISO 3864-1 guidance).
