laser beam sign
A warning (yellow) sign alerting people to a laser beam that can damage the eye or burn skin on direct or reflected exposure. The yellow triangle with a black border is the ISO 7010 warning shape; the pictogram shows a beam radiating from a source.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Fixed to the doors of laser cutting, engraving and welding cells in factories and metal workshops, on laser marking machines on production lines, in laser treatment and aesthetic rooms in clinics, and around laser levelling and surveying equipment on construction sites and in fibre-optic rooms.
Regulation notes
Occupational-safety and Civil Defense authorities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE expect laser operating areas to be marked with warning signage and access restricted while the laser is energised, as part of workshop and clinic operating conditions. In the UAE, the OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to sit above English on safety signs.
- Fix it to the room door or the cell barrier at eye level (1.5–1.7 m), and on the machine enclosure itself.
- A4 suits machine enclosures and clinic room doors; use A3 on laser cutting workshop doors.
- Pair it with a red beam-on lamp at the door — the sign says a laser is present, the lamp says it is firing right now.
