What does this sign mean?
A prohibition sign banning photography and video recording in this area, to protect people's privacy, commercial information or security requirements. It is drawn in the familiar prohibition shape and colours, a red circle with a diagonal bar, but it is not an ISO 7010 symbol and carries no code from that standard.
Where does it go and when is it required?
Mounted at the entrances to production halls, data centres, laboratories, meeting rooms and design areas, in clinics, women's sections, women's gyms and prayer rooms, and at the boundary of security-sensitive premises. Put it at the point of entry, since photographs are usually taken in the first moments of a visit.
Regulation notes: This sign is not a Civil Defense safety requirement, but it is widely used in Saudi Arabia and the UAE to post privacy rules on site, and may be required by the landlord, the lease or data-protection and privacy regulations. Following the practice OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 sets for safety signs in the UAE, keep Arabic above English across all of a site's signage.
- Mount at 1.5–1.7 m, at eye level on the door or at the reception desk.
- A4 suits doors and corridors; use A3 at main entrances and gates.
- Name the person or desk to ask in the organisation band, for visitors or contractors who need approved photography.
