do not touch sign
A prohibition sign warning that the marked equipment or surface must not be touched. The red circle with a diagonal bar is the standard ISO 7010 prohibition shape; a hand reaching toward a barrier shows that the hand must stop before contact.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Fixed to electrical control panels, hot surfaces, moving machinery, museum and exhibition displays, and calibrated instruments in laboratories and workshops. Also used beside exposed parts during maintenance work.
Regulation notes
Civil Defense and occupational-safety rules in Saudi Arabia and the UAE expect hazards to be marked with clear signs at equipment and surfaces that must not be touched, and this is checked during routine facility inspections. In the UAE, OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to appear above English on safety signs.
- Mount it on the equipment itself or within a metre of it, at eye level or slightly above the hazard point.
- A5 or A4 is enough on equipment; use A3 at the entrance to rooms holding no-touch machinery.
- Pair it with the matching warning sign (hot surface or electrical hazard) when workers need to know the type of hazard, not just the prohibition.
