overhead load sign
A warning (yellow) sign alerting people that suspended loads travel overhead and that the load or part of it could fall on anyone standing underneath. The yellow triangle with a black border is the ISO 7010 warning shape; the pictogram shows a suspended load hanging over a box on the ground.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Used under tower and mobile cranes on construction sites, in workshop and factory halls served by gantry or overhead hoists, in material lifting and landing zones at docks and ports, and around equipment drop zones in buildings under construction.
Regulation notes
Occupational-safety authorities and municipalities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE require lifting zones to be defined and people kept from passing under suspended loads, with clear warnings at the zone boundary, reviewed as part of the lift plan during site inspections. In the UAE, the OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to sit above English on safety signs.
- Fix it to the barrier marking the lifting-zone boundary at eye level (1.5–1.7 m) and on every walkway running alongside the zone.
- Use A3 in open sites and under tower cranes so it reads from a distance; A4 suits enclosed workshop halls.
- Move the sign as the lifting zone changes each day — a fixed sign where no lifting happens loses its value fast.
