Where is it used and when is it required?
Required in turning, grinding, cutting and welding shops, in chemistry laboratories and sample preparation rooms, at chemical dosing points and water treatment plants, during drilling and breaking work on construction sites, and in vehicle workshops when working under a car or with acid batteries.
Regulation notes
Civil Defense and occupational safety authorities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE expect eye-hazard areas to be marked with PPE mandatory signage as a condition of operating licences and risk-assessment files. In the UAE, practice under the OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 is for Arabic to sit above English on safety signs.
- Mount at the workshop or laboratory entrance at eye level (1.5–1.7 m), with a smaller copy on the specific bench that carries the hazard.
- A4 is enough inside workshops and labs; use A3 at the entrances to industrial halls and site gates.
- Keep a rack of clean spectacles and a lens wipe beside the sign — scratched eyewear goes unworn no matter how clear the sign is.
