wear face shield sign
A mandatory (blue) sign requiring a full face shield covering the whole face, not the eyes alone. The solid blue circle with a white symbol is the ISO 7010 mandatory shape — an instruction to act, not a hazard warning — and M013 shows a face behind a clear visor protecting against flying fragments, chemical splash and molten metal.
Where is it used and when is it required?
Required at grinding benches and high-speed metal cutting, at metal pouring and melting furnaces, in chemical mixing and decanting areas and water treatment plants, in battery rooms and acid handling, and at high-pressure equipment washing in warehouses and vehicle workshops.
Regulation notes
Civil Defense and occupational safety authorities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE expect face-threatening tasks to be marked with the matching mandatory signage, with the shield treated as an addition to safety spectacles rather than a substitute, as a condition of operating licences. In the UAE, practice under the OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 is for Arabic to sit above English on safety signs.
- Mount directly above the grinding bench or at the mixing point at eye level (1.4–1.6 m), not only at the workshop door.
- A4 at benches and individual workstations; A3 at the entrances to fabrication halls and chemical areas.
- Make clear that the shield goes over safety spectacles, and hang a dedicated bracket for it beside the sign so it is not left face-down on the bench and scratched.
