Where is it used and when is it required?
Required at construction and demolition site gates, in warehouses with high racking and loads travelling overhead, and in maintenance areas, scaffolding zones and beneath open floor voids or unfinished ceilings. Put it at the point of entry rather than inside the area, because the rule starts at the first step.
Regulation notes
Civil Defense and safety authorities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE expect PPE mandatory signs at the entrances to sites and hazardous areas as a condition of construction permits and operating licences, and their absence is a routine inspection finding. In the UAE, OSHAD Code of Practice 17.0 requires Arabic to sit above English on safety signs.
- Mount on the gate or at the entry checkpoint at eye level (1.5–1.7 m), not on a wall already inside the site.
- Use A3 at site gates so it reads from inside a vehicle, and A4 inside warehouses and corridors.
- Add a line in the workforce's own language — Urdu, for instance — alongside Arabic and English; a mandatory sign only works if the people it addresses can read it.
